An 'enchanting mansion between history and culture
The Duca di Castelmonte agritourism farm has accommodations created from rooms originally used as warehouses, stables and settlers' dwellings. Each housing unit is furnished in style, though equipped with modern comforts. Individually heated, the small apartments can accommodate from 2 to 6 people. The entire farm is fully usable by handicapped guests.
During the stay it is possible to taste some traditional, Sicilian and Trapanese products, prepared by the expert hands of the lady of the house.
The owners of the farm still inhabit the "baglio," where among other things, you can get all the information and directions regarding places to visit , things to do and items to buy on and off the farm.
The price of a night spent on the farm includes heating, electricity and water, as well as, every 3 days, cleaning and linen change. In each room guests will find everything they need for breakfast ( milk, coffee, tea, bread, cookies and jams prepared on the farm). Daily housekeeping, laundry service and babysitting are not included in the price, which will, however, be available upon request. Children under the age of 2 will be our guests.
The farm is just 5 km from Trapani, a peninsular city that rises on the slopes of Mount S. Giuliano at the summit of which stands Erice, a medieval village of extraordinary beauty. Trapani's economy has always been based on marine resources even more than on agriculture: famous is coral processing.
Ferries and hydrofoils depart regularly from the port of Trapani, connecting the city to the mainland and the islands of Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo and Pantelleria. Segesta with its temple and theater, dating from the 5th and 3rd centuries B.C. respectively, is about 30 km from Trapani.
Along the southern coast of the city, thus proceeding toward Marsala, one can admire the salt pans with their mills, some of which are still functioning, and the Stagnone nature reserve, of which the Phoenician-founded island of Mothia is a part. The other side, on the other hand, unfolds in a theory of beaches and cliffs that from the pink battigie of San Vito Lo Capo, through the rocks of Cala 'Mpisu and the faraglioni of Scopello lead through the zingaro nature reserve and join the province of Trapani to that of Palermo
Let your children spend whole days in the open air, free to run around the countryside and play, have fun with the animals, use the pool and organize games of tennis and basketball.
We also organize (with a minimum number of children) the preparation of tomato sauce and bread in a wood-fired oven where your children will work together with us.
Breakfast will be served in bouffet style with our homemade cakes, tarts and jam, cold meats and cheeses typical of the region. Our restaurant offers typical dishes, pizzas and the agri-pizzas with most of our own vegetables, picked in the morning.
We also offer menus for vegetarians and celiacs.
